I don’t view animals on the same level as humans, but do see them as worthy of our responsible stewardship, compassion and care. They are after all, God’s creatures.
This one of my favorite songs from the Cro-Mags, absolutely crushing! At around 1:53, if you aren’t pushing your monitors down and kicking at a wall, check your pulse. You’re moshing!

On Armenian Remembrance Day  Obama Again Avoids the Word ‘Genocide’ Despite Campaign Promise to Contrary (via ABC News)

2013 update: Same story, different year.
“President Barack Obama on Wednesday called the mass killings of Armenians at the hands of the Ottoman Turks in 1915 “one of the worst atrocities of the 20th century,” but again broke a 2008 campaign promise to label the tragedy a “genocide.”

In 1995 the band Integrity released the song “Armenian Persecution”. At that time two members of the band were of Armenian descent and released the song to bring attention to a horrors of the Ottoman Empire‘s genocide of Armenians. I’ve been clueless and curious about this for years now!
PPS The first 2:12 of the song is an intro/guitar solo, vocals kick in around the 2:12.

As long as people defending themselves are branded as criminals, then yes.

Earth Crisis - Neutralize The Threat - 2011I’ve been listening to hard rock since the early 80s and hardcore punk since the late 80s. It is now 2011 and I have yet to see any band generate as many bullsh*t rumors and myths as the band Earth Crisis. * If I had a dollar for every time I hear some story about them I’d be a rich man. None of the stories ever make sense, and if you press the people spreading these lies on their sources, inevitably they get angry and upset that you’d even question them.

What motivates these people to tell their stupid unsubstantiated tales? How did a sleepy town like Syracuse generate such a hate magnet like Earth Crisis? How many variations on “I heard they beat up a kid for holding a cigarette/cheese pizza/ukele” have you heard? How many variations of “They once smoked pot with a cousin of mine?” or “They secretly all eat cheeseburgers!” have you rolled your eyes, (or encouraged?!)

If you haven’t met the members of the band, let me give you a brief overview – they are the proverbial nice guys, note that I didn’t say normal! Karl is a character and well, he’s a one of a kind guy that’s definitely at home being on stage and as a musician. The rest of the band members are married family men. Boring I know, but true! Sad that many who pass along these stories don’t know the full story.

These rumors are popping up again, perhaps in part thanks to the band’s recent activities. They have a new album coming out and the new single is mosh approved and even if you don’t like the lyrics, will send your next gym session into maximum caloric output.
